The architectural style of the City Palace is a fusion of Rajasthani and Mughal and European architecture. It was built to illustrate the royal heritage and rich culture of Jaipur, Rajasthan. This palace was built with the principles of Vastu shastra under the architectural guidance of Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II by well-known architect Vidhydhar Bhattacharya who was a Bengali architect. He was the chief architect of the royal court along with Sir Samuel Swinton Jacob.

The Museum of City Palace is commonly known as Maharaja Sawai Man Singh II Museum is home to the executive Hindu scriptures from the primitive periods of India. This museum is located inside the City Palace in Diwan-I-Aam which is a public hall inbuilt in the palace. Most of the scriptures situated in the Museum are handwritten. This museum is home to the largest and finest collections of arms in India including swords, double-edge cutters, daggers, knives, axes, and arrows of various shapes and sizes.
